Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is a government agency assigned to collect and evaluate national internal revenue taxes. Presently they have 34 tax forms which are being processed in 124 Revenue District Offices nationwide. They have manpower who manually encodes relevant information from tax return and manually search and retrieve physical original copies of documents.
Due to the increase of number of tax returns yearly, BIR lacks manpower and technology to manage and store their records. They need a faster way to access and retrieve information from their tax returns at the same time better control and security on files. With this they find an alternative solution for their record and encoding system that will image their tax returns and index data from it.
After months of deliberation from different suppliers, Infomax with its joint venture with Ubix Data Center, won the government bidding to provide BIR’s Document Imaging and Data Capture services for two pilot district offices, namely RDO 39 – South Quezon City and RDO 40 – Cubao. BIR is now using View Direct for Networks, Document Direct for Internet and InfoCapture. BIR can now easily control, search and retrieve their data. It can now be easily shared with employees who have access and shared through the network. They are also certain that there will be no documents loss because of the reduced handling of hard copies.
